Arsenal have been handed a huge boost by Diego Simeone as the club searches for Arsene Wenger’s replacement.

Simeone is one of the favorites to replace Wenger and the Argentine has handed Arsenal a huge boost by reducing his contract at Atletico Madrid.

According to Spanish media outlet AS via Team Talk, Simeone has reduced the terms of his contract at Atletico Madrid and has began to take more English lessons as he prepares for life in the Premier League.

The Argentine signed a contract with Atletico Madrid last summer which was expected to expire in 2020 but  he has now shortened the length of the contract to 2018.

Simeone has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League in the last few years and it seems the Argentine is now preparing to work in England in the future.

Manchester City and Chelsea tried to bring him to England in the past but he wasn’t prepared to leave Atletico. Arsenal are now his likeliest destination in England and it is believed he would be one of the candidates to replace Wenger whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Should Wenger step down as manager when his current contract expires, Simeone will have just one year left in his contract and it wouldn’t be difficult for the club to negotiate a deal to bring him to the Emirates.

Simeone has developed into one of the best coaches in Europe since he became Atletico’s manager in 2011 and would be a perfect replacement to Wenger.
