Manchester City are confident of signing Alexis Sanchez this summer despite Arsene Wenger’s warnings that he will not be sold to a rival club.

Alexis contract expires at the end of next season and he has so far frustrated the club’s attempt to get him to sign a new deal.

Wenger remains determined to keep the Chilean who played a key role in our little success last season but the player appears to have other plans.

Since the end of last season, he’s been linked with Chelsea, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

While Arsenal would prefer to keep him, Wenger is only willing to do business with the German giants if the forward insists on leaving.

However, reports claim Sanchez has set his sight on a reunion with People Guardiola at the Etihad.

And, according to The Daily Star, Manchester City chiefs are confident of signing Alexis this summer and are prepared to table an official bid to test Arsenal’s resolve.

The bid is expected to be in the region of £50m and while that is a huge money for a player with just one year left in his contract, Arsenal are expected to reject City’s bid.

It is said that Guardiola’s men will wait until Sanchez resumes before making their move.

Alexis scored 30 goals last season to become Arsenal’s most influential player and it is no surprise that Arsenal are determined to hang on to him.

However, we may be fighting a losing battle if the Chilean refuse to have a change in mind because keeping an unhappy player who is in the final year of his contract and one who is influential like Sanchez could be dangerous to the team’s dressing room morale.

Wenger has set his sight on several replacements for Alexis, with fresh reports claiming a deal for Alexandre Lacazette could spell the end of the Chilean at Arsenal.

Despite the risk of keeping him, it would be an error if he is allowed to join Manchester City, we should even negotiate a reduced fee with any club outside England if he remains adamant to leave.
