Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore says Chelsea should make a “cheeky” move for Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil.
While a summer exit from Arsenal seems extremely unlikely for Ozil, former Aston Villa, Liverpool and England striker Collymore suggests that Conte should test Arsenal’s resolve as their German playmaker’s contract runs down.
Collymore wrote in his Mirror column: “In the longer term evolution of Chelsea, [Nemanja] Matic and Kante are ‘the’ men and Conte will be looking for an out-and-out No.10 who is extraordinarily creative and can get the best out of a striker, whether it’s Diego Costa or another forward who comes in.
“I just don’t see Fabregas as a great No.10 – he’s a Jack of all trades and master of none. He’s not in the same league, for example, as Mesut Ozil, who can do much more in bossing games.
“While I’m sure Ozil won’t be going anywhere, if I was Conte, I’d put in a cheeky £60-£70million bid to see if it got him.
“Then you’d be looking at a completely different Chelsea in terms of their attacking unit.”
