Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Bayern Munich star David Alaba, according to reports.

Alaba has established himself as one of Europe’s best fullbacks over the last few years following his exploits for Bayern Munich. The Austria international has helped the German giants win many titles and Premier League clubs are reportedly keen on his services.

According to the Mirror via, Manchester United and Arsenal are keeping tabs on Alaba’s situation at the Alianz Arena.

Manchester United are thought to be more serious in Alaba and will attempt to sign him in the winter transfer window but Bayern are expected to reject any bid for the defender mid-season.

A summer move is more realistic and the report claims Jose Mourinho will make a move for him at the end of the season if he isn’t successful this January.

Arsenal, on the other hand are in no hurry but will keep an eye on the defender’s situation and will rival Manchester United if Bayern Munich decide to sell.

Nacho Monreal who is currently our first choice left back is doing well for us but Alaba will represent a massive upgrade on the Spaniard.

The Austria international is also six years younger than Monreal and will represent a solid addition to our squad for the future.

Many may not see the possibility of Alaba moving to the Premier League because of his importance to Bayern Munich but as we’ve seen over the last transfer window, Premier League clubs can spend huge sum of money to attract top players and there will be no shortage of funds to sign Alaba.

Should the Austrian decide to close his chapter at Bayern and take up a new challenge, Arsenal must do everything possible to sign him as he is one of the best in his position.
