Manchester United are reportedly preparing to gazzump Arsenal in the race to sign FC Porto striker Andre Silva.

Silva has been on Arsenal’s radar for quite sometime, as reports about our scouts monitoring the striker first emerged in April 2015. Since then we have made numerous checks on the forward and our recent check on him was in one of Porto’s game last month.

It is believed Wenger is a big fan of the striker and sees him as a perfect signing for the future. But we could be forced to step up our interest as Manchester United have now joined the race for his services and they want him urgently.

According to the Daily Record via The Express, Manchester United are keen on Silva as Mourinho plans to carry out a major overhaul of his squad.

The striker is also top of Arsenal’s radar and the report claims Wenger could make a move for him soon if Alexis Sanchez doesn’t sign a new deal.

But with Manchester United’s interest, we will have to make a decision about chasing Silva irrespective of the outcome of Sanchez’s renewal talks.

Sanchez can’t carry on forever and it will be great having a quality option like Silva as an alternative to the Chilean.

At just 21, he will save us the stress of searching for a top striker in the next few years and I think Wenger must rival Manchester United for his services.

Porto are likely to hold out for more than £50m for the young striker, which could deter Wenger but should we manage to sign him and he fulfills his potential then he will be a cheap signing for us in the long run.

Silva has already scored 13 goals in 17 appearances for both club and country this season, which just goes to prove he is already a good player that will only get better.
