West Ham United are eyeing up a move for Olivier Giroud, according to reports.

The Hammers are keen on signing a striker ahead of next season and Slaven Bilic will explore the possibility of signing a proven Premier League striker like Giroud.

Giroud had somewhat of a tough season at the Emirates last term, featuring as back up to Alexis Sanchez for majority of the season and there are reports that he could leave the club this summer in search of more game time.

He’s already been linked with a host of clubs in the Serie A as well as Marseille but according to The Mirror, West Ham believe they’ll be able to fight off competition from the numerous clubs interested in the striker.

Giroud started only 11 Premier League games for Arsenal this season and the French man has revealed he will consider an exit if he isn’t going to play more next campaign.

Speaking while on international duty last week, Giroud said:

“I will put up with the transfer market. I will discuss with the coach but he is relying on me.

“It is true that I have had limited playing time but it was for a certain amount of time, it is true there were things against me. I will not settle for another year with such little playing time.

“I will have to think carefully to consider it with my relatives and my advisers. It will be a decision that will be maturely thought about to have more playing time.

“I still have two or even three years left on my Arsenal contract, for the moment my future is at Arsenal.

“I feel good here, I want to win the Premier League with Arsenal. But I don’t know what the future holds.”

Although the striker’s preference will be to remain at Arsenal, there is a very big chance that he will leave if Wenger signs a new striker this summer.

We were always going to face a situation like this considering next year is a World Cup year, everyone would want to play regularly in order to stand a chance of representing his country in football’s biggest competition. I am not surprised Giroud is talking tough.
