Arsene Wenger has revealed his delight at signing Alexandre Lacazette from Olympic Lyon.
Lacazette completed his move to Arsenal for £52m which has made him the club’s record signing.
Arsenal officially confirmed that the player has put pen to paper on a long-term contract and Wenger has now admitted he is delighted to finally sign the French man.
The striker has proven to be a consistent goal scorer over the last three years, scoring more than 90 goals in that period for Lyon and Wenger is confident he can continue the good work at the Emirates.
“We are very happy to have Alexandre join our group,” Wenger said.
“He has shown over a number of years that he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher.”
“As well, he has very interesting technical qualities and a strong character.
“So he is a guy who is a great addition for us, and someone who will help us challenge at the top level this season.”
Arsenal fans are also delighted to have completed the signing of a striker who the club has been linked to for many years. For as many of us that are big fans of the forward, it was a difficult time last summer when Lyon frustrated all Arsenal’s attempt to sign him.
Lacazette will now lead the line for Arsenal next season and I must say it’s an exciting feeling looking forward to a proven goalscorer spearheading our attack since the days of Van Persie. Hopefully, more signings to come, soon?
