Arsenal are reportedly set for a summer clear out of up to eight star players.

This report is according to talkSport, who claims that the Gunners are set to axe eight players this summer as part of a squad clear out from Arsene Wenger in preparation for next season.

It is no longer secret that Wenger is planning a major title charge next season, and the French boss is aware that the only way to give Chelsea and other rival clubs a good fight is to bring in marque signings.

talkSport says the players set to be axed from the Emirates this summer will include Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky, Abou Diaby, Mathieu Flamini, Joel Campbell, Carl Jenkinson, Ryo Miyaichi and captain Mikel Arteta.

While some of the names above are expected, the likes of Theo Walcott and Joel Campbell will still come as a shock to many Arsenal fans who believe the players could still have a future at the club.

The boss has already promised the signing of “world class” players and so reports of a summer clear-out should not come as a surprise development.

The exits would clear significant squad space and free up some serious cash to chase big names such as Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba.

Good decision but tell Wenger that “He’ll be committing most grievous blunder of his life if he dares let go of Rosicky and Walcot…

Only a fool will let Walcott go. I am sure there will be departures of Diaby, Sanogo, and Flamini. I am not too sure about Arteta, he might be allowed to leave, but I would hate to see Rosicky go. He is an amazing player and can give more if played regularly. I would have loved to see a mid-field of Cazorla, Ozil, and Rosicky. Podolski is another one that might just be allowed to go. He should have been played more at the start of this season. We could have had better results. Not too sure about Campbell, though I would love him to stay and Wenger playing an all out pace attack of Walcott, Welbeck, and Campbell in a few games.

I believe that we still need Rosicky and Walcot. In my view,Rosicky is a direct substitute to Ozil in terms of creating openings in defences and ball distribution.Walcot is our man against teams like Barcelona and this you can confirm with Gerald Pique.
