Arsenal have turned down West Ham’s approach to sign Kieran Gibbs, according to reports.
The defender has been one of the numerous names being linked with a move away from the Emirates but it appears Wenger is reluctant to let the defender leave.
It was claimed that the fullback has told Wenger of his desire to play regular football next season and would leave the club this summer should he not be assured a spot in the first team which prompted reports linking the club with a number of left backs within and outside England.
According to Standard Sport, West Ham have had a loan bid for Gibbs rejected by Arsenal. The Hammers recently lost Aaron Creswell to a long term injury and in the process of searching for a cover, they attempted to sign Gibbs on loan.
Gibbs is West Ham’s top target but they would now have to look elsewhere after Arsenal rejected their approach.
The Gunners have already been linked with the likes of Ricardo Rodriguez and Ben Chilwell this summer, which could be a sign that Wenger is prepared to let the defender leave. Perhaps Wenger doesn’t want Gibbs to join a rival club as the French man has stated on several occasions that he wouldn’t do business with rivals.
