Arsenal and Chelsea target, Talisca has moved to dispel any move away from Benfica this winter by declaring his willingness to continue his development at the Estadio da Luz.
The 20 year old Brasilian striker has made an astonishing start to his career in Portugal with 9 goals in 13 appearances, including the only goal in Benfica’s 1 – 0 win over Monaco in the Champions League on Tuesday. With 6 goals in his last seven games, Talisca has made himself even more appealing to the Premier League bidding warriors but rather than feel euphoric and flattered by it, he is keeping his focus on keeping his feet on the ground with Benfica.
Per the Express, Talisca is quoted to have expressed his full concentration as being solely on his present experience with Benfica.
“I am thinking only of Benfica.
“I’m ready, I know I have and am able to learn much from this wonderful group, with supporters and with the coach.”
The Brasilian U-21 International is valued at about £17m by his employers at Benfica, whom he only just joined this summer for less than £3m from Bahia in his native country. With such huge progress made in the short period he has made in the Liga Sagres, Talisca will find himself been watched by more and more scouts from both Arsenal and Chelsea, with Liverpool even thought to be interested in having words with him.
Wenger would probably keep watching the youngster from a distance to keep monitoring his progress. The likes of Chuba Akpom, Benik Afobe and brasilian youngster Wellington Silva, will all be making cases for thier chances in the team next season, while Yaya Sanogo would want to have as say in Welbeck being the new star for of the future Arsenal attack. There’s definitely no shortage of hot young prospects coming through from the Arsenal academy, and while Talisca is surely one to keep a continuous eye on, there may not be any realistic chance of a move in any of the coming windows considering his comments.
Talisca, born Anderson Souza Conciecao, is mainly an Attacking midfielder. His 6ft 2′ frame has been deployed by Jorge Jesus at the Estadio da Luz as a striker to good effect, and if he continues at this rate, a talk of a move next summer may begin to make the rounds. He is currently a member of the Brasil U-20s but could soon make the step up to the Selecao, with Dunga believed to have been impressed by his prodigious displays.
