Reports making the round claims Arsenal have failed with an opening bid for SC Braga midfielder Pedro Neto.

According to reputable Portuguese outlet A Bola, the Gunners recently made a €15 million (£13.1m) approach to Braga for highly rated starlet Pedro Neto, though their opening bid has been rejected.
A Bola says the Gunners are locked in a transfer tussle with Barcelona for his signature with Arsenal already lodging a bid.

The player has a £17.5m release clause in his contract and the club are standing firm in their valuation.

Arsenal were clearly impressed enough to make a substantial offer, though Braga told them in no uncertain terms that they would only permit to selling Neto if his €20m (£17.5m) release clause is met.

Per the report, Barcelona are also preparing their own offer and are ready to activate the release clause to ensure they snap up a player they have been tracking for several years.
