Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger is keen to give England international forward Danny Welbeck a new contract, according to the Daily Mail.
The 27-year-old, who has earned 36 international caps for the Three Lions, has netted five goals and made an assist in 24 games in all tournaments for The North Londoners so far this campaign.
Welbeck, who moved to the Emirates Stadium back in September 2014 after his reported £16m move from Premier League rivals Manchester United, has scored 22 goals in 93 matches overall for the North London side.
As well as wanting the forward to put pen to paper on a new contract at the Emirates, with Welbeck’s current deal set to end in June 2019, boss Wenger feels the ex-United man can make a good impression at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia this summer with England.
But, the striker has suffered significantly long periods out of the game due to damage since joining Arsenal, suffering serious knee difficulties since May 2015, and another toe, hip and groin obstacles too.
Welbeck has scored 39 league goals in 187 Premier League games overall for Arsenal, United and Sunderland (loan).
