Reports making the round claims Arsenal would be without summer signing Alexandre Lacazette as the former Lyon star will be ruled out for six week due to a knee injury as reported by John Cross of the Mirror.

The news will come as a huge blow for Arsenal as they look to make a push at a Europa League and League Cup double, whilst they won’t have given up hope of securing a top four finish either.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “Striker Alex Lacazette had an arthroscopy on his left knee in London on Tuesday morning.

“The minor procedure was a success and he will now undergo a period of rehabilitation. It is envisaged that he will return to the squad within four to six weeks.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not eligible to play in the Europa League after he was named in Borussia Dortmund’s squad for the knockout stages prior to his transfer to the Gunners, which means Danny Welbeck is the only senior striker available for the competition.
