Dan Crowley has a move away from North London to join the Dutch club, after spending the second half of last campaign with fellow Eredivisie side Go Ahead Eagles.
He arrived from Aston Villa in 2014. He had a good start to his academy career and as a result joined up with the first-team for pre-season in Asia in 2015. He influenced the Arsenal supporters with his passing and relationships in playing-style with Jack Wilshere.
Dan then went on various loans from 2015 to 2017, including spells with English sides Barnsley and Oxford United, as well as the Go above Ahead Eagles. Last campaign, he made 27 appearances for latter two clubs, netting five goals and making four assists.
However, at this stage, it appears that Crowley had made up his mind to leave. With Chris Willock also making a transfer to Benfica, Dan chose not to secure a new deal with Arsenal and finally stayed in England while fellow teenagers went to Sydney so he could complete his transfer. Crowley’s move abroad is a bold one that we’re starting to see more from English talents fighting to break through in the Premier League. We wish him all the best with this next step in his career.
