A typical evidence that Arsenal have a working youth set-up is the fact that several youngsters have been transformed into professional and they are currently plying their trades with the senior team of the Gunners – Alex Iwobi, Maitland-Niles, Jack Wilshere and Reiss Nelson are among the players who started from the academy and ascended the grades to the highest level.
To sustain the development of players, Arsenal have made two appointments. Lee Herron has been appointed as head of academy football operations and he is joined by Marcel Lucassen, who is charged with player’s development in the entire yputh set-up and he also doubles as the head coach, this is according to report on the club’s website.
Prior to his appointment with Arsenal, Marcel was the technical director of Al-Nasr FC in Dubai and he was credited with technically developing and supporting their youth set-up. He is also a consultant at the world football academy following his UEFA Pro Licence as an instructor.
Meanwhile, Lee has spent his last 17 years at Reading as one of their technical crew member,. He assumed the position of their manager in 2016 before Arsenal snapped him up.
