Tottenham are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of Dutch striker Vincent Janssen, according to reports.
Wenger is working actively to sign a striker this summer and has been linked with a number of them including Janssen.
Janssen impressed for AZ Alkmaar last season and his performances have attracted a lot of clubs including north London duo Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
According to Football Insider via Football Transfer Tavern, Spurs are on the verge of signing the striker. The report claims Mauricio Pochettino’s men will complete the signing of the striker in the next few days after Daniel Levy sanctioned the deal.
Wenger is said to have been impressed by the striker’s performances last term and was keeping tabs on the 22 year old situation but the French man has now prioritised the signing of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.
Wenger is prepared to invest all his resources in signing Morata and has agreed to double the striker’s salary in order to tempt him to the Emirates. Hence giving Spurs little competition in the race to sign Janssen.
Janssen scored 27 league goals in 34 appearances for AZ Alkmaar last season and is now set to move to the Premier League after one season but it will not be to Arsenal but our bitter rival Spurs.
