Arsenal are keeping an eye on Ross Barkley’s situation with his Everton career in doubt.
Barkley has one year left on his contract and is yet to agree terms on a new deal.
The contract saga has angered Everton boss Ronald Koeman, who has stated the 23-year-old would be sold this summer if he failed to extend his contract.
Barkley did not travel with the Everton squad on their tour of Tanzania due to injury.
Tottenham have been strongly linked with the England international but reports earlier this week claimed Manchester United and Chelsea were also keeping tabs on the Everton star.
But according to the Evening Standard, Arsenal are also interested.
Arsenal have had a busy transfer window with Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac brought in.
And manager Arsene Wenger has acknowledged the need to make more additions.
“There are two ways to strengthen the squad – the first is to analyse where we have not done so well and where we can improve together, and the other way is to bring in players from outside,” he told Arsenal Player.
“We are still open to strengthening our team with players coming from outside.”
“We are very active on the transfer market and have already realised two incomings. We have to keep a balance as well, that you don’t destabilise the team too much by bringing in too many players.
“But we are still active on the transfer market so let’s see what kind of opportunities we can find.”
