Arsenal are prepared to join Manchester United in the race to sign Fabinho.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain already but it appears Wenger wants to sign the Monaco man also.
Fabinho who plays as a holding midfielder as well as a right back was one of Monaco’s top performers last season as they matched on to the Ligue one title.
Mourinho had made him a primary target but Wenger is set to rival his foe once again but this time in the transfer market.
According to France Football via The Daily Star, Wenger is monitoring Fabinho’s situation at Monaco and would make a move for him should his club indicate any willingness to sell.
Manchester United haven’t made headway in their attempt to sign the midfielder because Monaco are reluctant to lose any more of their players after losing Bernardo Silva and Valere Germain already, with Tiemoue Bakayoko set to follow them out of the club.
Arsenal will continue to monitor Manchester United’s pursuit of the Brazilian and will be ready to pounce if the need arises.
Fabinho has established himself as one of Europe’s best holding midfielders as well as a very good right back, so would be a massive signing for us as a club.
It is unknown whether Wenger sees Fabinho as a midfielder or as a replacement for Hector Bellerin who is being linked with a move to Barcelona.
I expect more to unfold as the transfer window progresses.
