Premier league giants Arsenal have been watching Genoa young star Armando Izzo, according to reports in Italy.
The gunners are interested in signing the defender and Arsene Wenger has ordered scouts to keep an eye on the 23 year old performances.
Italian Publication II Secolo XIX claims that Arsenal scouts were present at Genoa’s game against Napoli when both sides met before the last international break.
Izzo impressed in the game as he helped Genoa shut out Napoli’s strike foce in a game that ended as a goalless draw.
Wenger will continue monitoring the defender ahead of a January transfer move but the gunner’s boss will likely face competition from Portugal as Benfica are also keen on the defender.
The defender moved to Genoa from Avellino in 2014 and recently became a key member of the Genoa first team. However, the defender was first in the book of Napoli but failed to make a single appearance for the Naples before he was sold to Avellino in 2012.
If Rugani moves to Arsenal, he will be joining one of the best defence in the Barclays Premier league. Arsenal have conceded just 9 goals this season with Petr Cech keeping six clean sheets.
