These are certainly exciting times for Arsenal fans as Alexis Sanchez’s loss might turn out to be two gains for Arsenal. Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal are in negotiation with Borrussia Dortmund over a potential move for transfer long term target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang has been on the transfer radar of Arsenal since yesteryear and the Gunners have recently lunched a bid for him. Wenger confirmed that Dortmund and Arsenal are in talks for the player’s transfer.
Arsenal have seen their first offers for the Gabonese rebuffed as it was short of Dortmund’s evaluation of him. Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed the Gunners approach but Arsene Wenger who has always remained coy over transfers also confirmed the said report.
The French manager was asked he was confident that Arsenal would capture the lethal finisher before the close of this transfer window and he said:
“Confident or not confident, I don’t know. At the moment we are not close to do any deals with Aubameyang or anybody else.”
Arsenal completed a swap deal that saw Sanchez and Mkhitaryan exchange places at their respective Clubs but the Gunners are a tad short of options in the final third after allowing Theo Walcott leave for Everton.
Olivier Giroud is expected to move to Signa Iduna Park as part of the Aubameyang deal but Wenger tacitly replied when he was asked about the possibility of a swap deal.
“Look, the negotiations are not as far as that.” when asked about Giroud.
