Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to release Olivier Giroud unless he confirms the signing of Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, according to reports.
For the Arsenal fans who have been sitting at the edge of their seat over Aubemeyang’s proposed move to the Emirates, we can tell you that the deal is as good as done.
Arsenal have reached a £55million deal agreement with Borrussia Dortmund for long term transfer target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
The Gunners chief Executive Ivan Gazidis and Head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, have been in Germany for over a week, trying to broker a deal for Aubameyang but a disagreement over transfer fee had scuppered the deal.
Arsenal made initial offer of £45m and it was rebuffed, they returned with £50m and it was again rebuff with Dortmund holding out for nothing less that £60m for the want-away striker.
Nonetheless, there now seem to be light at the end of the tunnel as the Express Sport via German media outlet Kicker claim that an agreement to the tune of 63m (£55m) has been reached by both clubs, albeit personal terms have not been agreed with Aubameyang.
Dortmund were looking to sign Olivier Giroud as replacement for the Gabonese star but the report has claimed that the deal is not a swap deal and Giroud would prefer a move elsewhere.
German football expert Manuel Veth twitted the following about the deal.
“Movement in the #Aubameyang to #Arsenal deal.
“@kicker believes that the #BVB striker will be sold for €63m.
“Giroud will not head to Dortmund instead the club is looking at Anthony Modeste as a potential replacements.”
And he was asked if people could rely on his claim and he replied with “very.’
Aubameyang will now join up with former team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who was swapped with Alexis Sanchez. Mkhi and Auba scored 62 goals in all competitions two seasons ago and we expect to see a very potent Arsenal attack.
