PSG have joined the race to sign reported Arsenal target Ricardo Rodriguez, according to reports.
Arsenal are long-term admirers of the Switzerland international and we were reportedly interested in signing him in the last transfer window but nothing concrete happened.
With the winter transfer window a fortnight away, the defender is being linked with a move away from Wolfsburg again and Arsenal are reportedly one of the clubs still interested in his services.
However, RMC Sport via ReadBundesliga.com claims PSG have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign the defender.
The report claims the French giants are prepared to activate the defender’s €25m release clause in January.
Wenger is reportedly not too keen on making a move in January but is open to a summer move. Last week, the Telegraph claimed the boss has earmarked signing a left back next summer as one of his priorities and no doubt Rodriguez would been on his wish list if he is available.
But PSG’s plans will scupper our hopes of signing the defender next summer as he will be off the market if they succeed in signing him next month.
Wenger currently has Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs available to him but the former is closing in on the final stages of his career while the latter has failed to impress. Hence, it is no surprise that the boss is already looking to strengthen that position in the future.
