Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has told Arsenal to forget about signing Riyad Mahrez this summer. The Gunners are reportedly interested in the winger but the Foxes manager has revealed they have no intention to sell him.

Arsenal are ready to pay up to £37m for the winger but Leicester City are confident that the winger would snub a move to the Emirates and sign a new contract at the club just like Jamie Vardy.

He said: “Riyad will stay with us. He is very happy. I see him every day and he has never talked to me about anything strange.

“I am confident about him. This comes from experience. Champions have a lot of rumours and speculation about them, and you have to be focused on your job. The speculation is not real.

“If he wants to sign a new contract it is OK with me. For me it is important that this season he stays with us. Riyad wants to stay, because he wants to continue with us to keep having the experience. Everything else is just speculation.”

A source close to the player revealed Arsenal are not the only English club interested in the winger but also claimed there is no decision about the winger’s future yet.

“It is natural for there to be rumours.

“He was voted the English league’s best player last season. But nothing has been done yet.

“It is not so straightforward to see him leaving Leicester, especially with Champions League fixtures in prospect.

“Other big English clubs are on his trail. Discussions are in progress with them, but there is no agreement. In any case, there is no hurry.”

The winger scored 17 goals and had 11 assists in the league last season as he helped the Foxes to their first ever top flight league title.
