Ray Parlour says that Arsenal must take their performance against AC Milan into Sunday’s clash with Watford, saying they’ve proven that they can be ‘a good side’.
The under-pressure Gunners came away with a 2-0 victory over the Italian giants in last night’s Europa League clash; after putting in a spirited display.
Speaking on The Debate, he said: “I think the players really had to step up; they knew it was their last chance to maybe get into the Champions League next season, so they certainly proved that they are a good side.
“A lot of the Arsenal fans will be scratching their heads, saying ‘where’s that been in the last six or seven games’ and that’s the problem we’ve had this season at Arsenal, in that we’ve been so inconsistent.”
Asked what the key difference was last night, Parlour said: “The back four played like a back four.
“Sometimes when the full-backs bomb on they leave the centre-backs so exposed as they leave them out of position so much, so (Sead) Kolasinac, who’s more of a forward player, he was much more disciplined and (Calum) Chambers, who’s normally a centre-half, he did well at right-back, and that was the difference.”
