Arsenal play host to Premier League leaders Chelsea on Sunday and manager Arsene Wenger has moved to caution fans against disrespecting former captain Cesc Fabregas.
Arsene Wenger made this comment while speaking to Arsenal Player ahead of the all-important clash this weekend.
The French boss said that although he regrets the Spaniard’s exit from Arsenal, he however feels that the 27-year-old made his choice and should be given the respect he deserves when he returns to the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
Wenger said: “The regret I have is that he wanted to leave here. This club and myself had a very positive influence on Cesc’s life. I want every player to be respected, and [I want] Cesc Fabregas when he comes to the Emirates on Sunday to be respected like he deserves.”
This is definitely a huge favour to ask of from the Emirates supporters, as many of the Arsenal faithful that would be present at the Emirates Stadium on the day still hurt from Fabregas’ decision to join bitter rivals Chelsea.
