If at first u don’t succeed, try! try!! try!!! again. The popular quote is one Gunners boss Arsene Wenger seems to be applying in his bid to land Fulham teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon. The 16-year-old winger is believed to be very high on the list of targets of the newly revamped scout system at the Emirates, little wonder the gaffer tried to sign him on the final day of the January transfer window earlier this week.
The Mirror revealed that Wenger tried and failed to land the youngster after the Cottagers had contacted the Gunners about the possibility of taking German winger Sergi Gnabry on loan until the end of the season. Talks immediately ended as Fulham were keen to hold on to their potential superstar.
Sessegnon is regarded as one of the best left sided prospects in youth football since the emergence of Gareth Bale. The Left-sided winger has been a key player for the Fulham under-16s setup in recent years helping them to the Premier League Under-16 International Cup two years running against some of Europe’s top youth systems.
With Wenger’s well-known investment in young players continually reaping rewards with the likes of Coquelin, Walcott, Ramsey and Oxlade-Chamberlain prominent members of the current squad, dere is little surprise in the Telegraph’s report via soccersweep that Arsenal retain an interest in bringing the youngster to the club in the summer.
