Arsenal target and Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has dismissed reports that he is in advanced talks with Arsenal as a successor to Arsene Wenger.
The Italian tactician is being linked with a move to the Emirates as a replacement for Wenger whose contract expires in June.
Wenger is yet to sign a new deal and although the club would want him to stay, club chiefs are already preparing for the worse and have lined up Allegri as a potential succesor.
Last week, reports in Italy claimed Allegri has moved ahead of RB Lepzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl in Arsenal’s pecking order after contact was established with the Italian’s camp but he has now denied any form of contact between him and the Gunners.
“I’m with Juve. I’m happy here and I want to continue as long as that is also what the club wants,” Allegri said.
It is only normal for Allegri to rubbish speculations linking him with the Gunners job as he is doing well at his current club. He is currently closing in on his third Serie A title in a row, he has everything going for him, so he doesn’t need to be in a hurry to leave the Old Ladies.
That is not to say a move won’t happen if Arsenal are truly interest, I think the lure of managing in the Premier League and competing with other top managers will definitely be greater than staying at Juventus.
However, Arsenal’s priority remains to tie Wenger to a new deal and only if that doesn’t happen will we make a move for Allegri.
