Bayern Munich Left back David Alaba once dreamed of being a Gunner and wanted to become one earlier in his career.

The defender who is currently one of the best in his position was an Arsenal fan while growing up with his Idol, an ex Gunner Patrick Viera.

The player had publicly revealed in 2009 that he had a dream of wearing the red and white shirt someday before breaking into prominence with German Champions Bayern Munich.

In a book written by Austrian Journalist Andras Heidenreich via the Metro, the Journalist shed light on how the defender joined Bayern Munich instead of Arsenal, he said:

‘David was so good that Austria (Wien) couldn’t keep him. Heiko Vogel, Bayern’s U14 manager, spotted him during a tournament in Bremen. He was straight away seduced by his will and charisma on the pitch.

‘He was the best in his team with (Christoph) Knasmullner. However, David will say no twice to Bayern Munich, a team he didn’t like. He preferred Arsenal, where his idol, Patrick Vieira, played.’

Since moving to Germany in 2008, Alaba has gone on to be an integral part of Bayern Munich, since joining the Bavarians, he has contributed immensely to them winning four Bundesliga titles and a Champions League trophy.
