Arsene Wenger has hailed his midfielders ahead of next season while also revealing he’d not be making any more midfield signing this summer, via Football Insider.
The French man hailed the quality of his midfielders and reserved special praise for summer signing Granit Xhaka, claiming the Switzerland international has all the attributes to succeed at the Emirates.
“He’s a young boy as well, 23 years old. There’s a lot to come from him,” Wenger said.
Wenger also hinted that there may not be any new signing in midfield this summer, insisting that the club has enough midfielders already.
The club lost three veteran midfielders this summer and it was expected that the veterans would be replaced before the start of next season but Wenger has revealed the signing of Xhaka has provided enough depth already.
“We lost three midfielders: Flamini, Rosicky and Arteta, and numbers-wise we are quite solid in midfield now.
“[Mohamed] Elneny had a big impact when he came here, Coquelin was injured for a long time and is back. Cazorla will come back, Wilshere is back… so we are solid in midfield.” said Wenger.
The club is still being linked with central midfielder’s, particular Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko but we wouldn’t be surprised if the club does not make any midfield signing after Wenger’s recent comments.
