Arsene Wenger has given a hint on his summer transfer plans, via Guardian.
The French man insists he has faith in his current squad and will keep the core of the current squad.
It’s been reported that Wenger is preparing a major overhaul of the squad but Wenger has now revealed that is not the case.
Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign a striker, a midfielder and a defender with some reports also claiming the French man will allow as many as nine players leave the club.
Wenger admitted he will strengthen the team should he find the right players but also urged the fans to maintain a sense of realism.
Wenger said: “If you look at the top three teams, you will see they have not changed their team a lot. We have to strengthen our squad but it’s not obvious to find the players despite the money the English clubs will have. We are already working but we have to find the players and that is not easy.
“You cannot dismiss that the players are young: Alex Iwobi is 19, Mohamed Elneny is 23, Francis Coquelin 24, and they will be stronger next year but you need to keep a core of players and strengthen where we can. The team is going the right way.”
With the Premier League expected to be tougher next season, fans and pundits have called on Wenger to strengthen his squad significantly this summer but it seems the French tactician could pay deaf ears to those calls and stick with majority of his current squad.
