Wenger seems to be very interested in signing a left back this summer transfer window. The French tactician is keen on strengthening his defense this summer and has reportedly identified the fullback position as an area he wants to work on.

According to Swiss newspaper Blick via the Sunday Express, Arsenal and Real Madrid are seriously keen on Wolfsburg’s left back Ricardo Rodriguez and are both eyeing a cut price deal for the defender.

The defender had a £21m release clause which expired at the end of June and with the expiration of the release clause, Arsenal are hoping to sign the defender for a considerable lower fee.

The defender has informed Wolfsburg that he wants to leave the club this summer, the German club has be holding out for the player’s £21m release clause but interested clubs have been reluctant to meet that price.

Wolfsburg are now prepared to sell for a lesser fee as the defender had a relatively poor season last term and would not be able to command a high fee.

Rodriguez is an international teammate of Arsenal new signing Granit Xhaka and the defender has revealed he would be open to a move to the Emirates.
