Real Madrid could join the race to sign Alexis Sanchez if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves the Bernabeu this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Sanchez is yet to inform Arsenal if he wants to remain at the club or not but several reports are suggesting the Chilean wants to move away and that’s the reason he hasn’t signed a new £300,000-a-week deal offered to him by the Gunners.
Arsenal are still determined to keep the forward and are expected to hold talks with him when he returns from the Confederation Cup next month.
Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are all hoping to take advantage of the forward’s contract situation but Arsenal are insisting the Chilean would be forced to run down the remainder of his contract if he refuses to sign a new deal.
Spanish publication Don Balon via The Daily Star are now claiming Real Madrid could join the above-mentioned trio in the race to sign Sanchez this summer.
Ronaldo is reportedly unhappy at the Bernabeu and has told his club he wants out. Madrid, although unwilling to sell, they have earmarked Sanchez as his replacement.
The report claims Sanchez wants to return to La Liga with Real and will wait until Ronaldo’s future is sorted before making a decision on his.
This means other interested clubs will have to wait a little longer before they’ll know if they will have any chance of signing the Chilean.
Should Madrid decide to step up their interest in Sanchez, they would have to convince Arsenal to part with the Chilean. However, the Gunners won’t be able to put up too much resistance considering the forward has just one year left in his contract.
