Manchester City are planning a January swoop for Alexis Sanchez, according to the Sunday Express.

The midfielder is currently struggling to agree terms with Arsenal over a new contract and Manchester City want to take advantage of the situation.

The forward has demanded a weekly salary of about £200,000 a week and the inclusion of a release clause in the new contract. Arsenal are willing to meet the player’s salary demands but the release clause is proving to be a problem.

It is claimed Sanchez is concerned about the club’s ability to challenge for titles and is still considering his future as a result.

Manchester City who have started the season with 100% record will provide the winger the platform to compete for titles and he could be tempted by their interest.

However, Alexis could decide to wait and see how well Arsenal will perform this season before taking a decision on his future, the club has a better chance of challenging for titles this season after Wenger spent about £90m on new signings.

The forward was among the goal scorers in Arsenal’s 4-1 win against Hull City on Saturday, he has started to show signs of getting back to his best form after struggling with injury last season. He will be important to Arsenal’s title chances this season and we expect the club to reject City’s approach for his in January.
