Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed his interest in Alexis Sanchez but insists he won’t break the bank to sign the Chilean.
The Bundesliga giants have been heavily linked with Sanchez since the end of last season and at a point, they were thought to be leading Manchester City in the race to sign the striker.
But recent reports are claiming the German champions have backed out of a deal because of Sanchez wage demands. It is believed the Chilean is demanding a salary package of around £350,000 weekly in addition to the £50m he would cost in transfer fee and Bayern thinks that is too expensive.
Ancelotti has now confirmed that his club is still ready to sign Sanchez but won’t break the bank to do that.
“If an opportunity comes up, the club will be ready,” he said as quoted by Sky Sports.
“There are lots of rumours. Alexis is a great player but not the only one in the world. I like Alexis.
“There are possibilities in the transfer market, which can be in many direction. I believe that the market is currently somewhat crazy – and Bayern is not a crazy club.
“I know the culture of this club and will not ask for any players for whom the club has to spend crazy sums, but if there are opportunities, why not?”
Bayern’s decision not to spend big on Sanchez will give Man City a huge boost as they are ready to move heavens to sign the Chilean.
Arsenal remain determined to hold on to Sanchez but if he insists on leaving, we may need Bayern to make a move for his services so we don’t lose him to a rival club.
