On the afternoon when Arsenal crashed to yet another away defeat in the Premier League, the club’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat was in Germany watching his former club in action.

Mislintat, who arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Borussia Dortmund in January, was spotted watching Max Meyer in action.

And, as you would expect, fans quickly started to debate just who it was that the German talent spotter could be watching.

Several names were suggested, but the general consensus seemed to be that he was there to run the rule over Max Meyer – the German international midfielder who has been heavily tipped to join the north London outfit on a free transfer this summer.

Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel said: “Meyer will definitely leave Schalke this summer. We’re dealing with the situation very professionally.

“It’s all been very amicable.”

As expected, a number of Arsenal fans are getting very excited on Twitter. Here’s a selection of what’s been said on social media.
