Inter Milan are planning to beat Arsenal to the signature of Lanus playmaker Miguel Almiron, according to TalkSport.

Arsenal were linked with the South American in the summer transfer window with reports claiming the club were prepared to spend as much as £11.1m on the Paraguayan.

Arsenal held preliminary talks with the player’s club in the summer but were unable to complete a deal before the transfer window closed.

The player is still expected to leave Lanus in January and it is believed Arsenal will return for his services but we are set to face competition for his services form Inter Milan as the Italian giants are now interested in signing the midfielder.

Inter Milan’s boss Frank De Boer is a fan of the youngster and wants him to be part of his squad at the San siro.

Almiron, 22, is regarded as one of the brightest talents in South America and has made one appearance for the Paraguay national team.

Inter Milan could have an edge over Arsenal in the race to sign the playmaker because of the difficulty of securing work permits in England. The player will easily be given work permit to play for Inter Milan and that could influence his decision as he might not get the chance to play for Arsenal in the next few years, should he move to the Emirates.
