Arsene Wenger is keeping an eye on Stoke City’s Jack Butland and would step up his interest in the England international should he be forced into the market for a new goalkeeeper

Arsenal could lose three of its four goalkeeepers this summer as other clubs ramp up interests in David Ospina, Wojciech Szczesny and Emiliano Martinez.

Both Szczesny and Ospina are expected to leave the Emirates this summer as they desperately search for regular first team football but Martinez was tipped to step up and provide competition and cover for Cech.

However, the Argentine could now be tempted to leave this summer as Valencia are interested in his services. The Spanish giants have promised to make Martinez their number one next season and that could be a very tempting offer for him to refuse.

In the event that all three of them leaves the club, Cech will become Arsenal’s only senior goalkeeeper and The Daily Star claim Wenger has set his sight on Butland as a potential replacement.

The Stoke City shot stopper is regarded as England’s future no 1 and is highly rated in the Premier League.

Despite missing the past one year with a knee injury, he is  still regarded as one of England’s best goalkeepers, hence, it isn’t far fetched to see why Wenger is keen on a move for him.

Butland will be a difficult signing, not just because he will be reluctant to come sit on the bench after a long time out but because Stoke would not want to let him leave and even if they do, they are expected to demand an outrageous transfer fee.

Also with a World Cup year fast approaching, the shotstopper will be keen to be active on the pitch rather than play second fiddle to Cech.

It would be interesting to see how things turn out regarding this goalkeeper crisis we currently find ourselves in.
