Arsenal have told Crystal Palace to pay £25m for Calum Chambers, according to reports.
Palace and Arsenal have been in talks over the transfer of Chambers for quite sometime and it is believed that both parties are now close to an agreement.
According to the Guardian via Football Insider, Arsenal have placed a £25m price tag on Chambers, after rejecting a £16m bid from the Eagles last week.
The report claims Chambers have been told there is no place for him in Wenger’s team next season and is now keen to join Palace ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Palace are now expected to meet Arsenal’s demands and both clubs are confident a deal will be struck in the coming days.
Arsenal’s £25m valuation may seem too much but one wouldn’t blame them, if Micheal Keane could join Everton for £30m, I don’t see why Chambers shouldn’t command as much as the Gunners are demanding.
Chambers proved he can deliver when given the chance to play regularly like he had at Middlesbrough last season and Palace would be signing a massive asset if they manage to pull off the deal.
Arsenal were linked with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Virgil Van Dijk last week and the money gotten from Chambers’ sale will be used to fund the signing of a new centre back.
