Arsenal could sell as many as eight players before the transfer window closes, according to a report in the Daily Cannon.
Arsene Wenger recently admitted there will be more departures than arrivals before the end of the transfer window, as he looks to trim down its squad and as many as eight players could be sold in the next few weeks.
Unsurprisingly, Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs, Calum Chambers and Lucas Perez are among those the club is looking to sell permanently this summer. However, Gabriel Paulista and Mohamed Elneny could also be allowed to leave if the club receives a suitable bid for any of them.
Premier League and Champions League rules only enables a club register 25 players for the season but Arsenal currently have 33 players on its books, meaning eight players will be shown the exit door.
Of all the players being tipped for a move away from the club, it is Mohammed Elneny and Gabriel Paulista that are a bit surprising to me.
A bit surprising, I say, because even though they haven’t really been key players for us, they have always done a decent job almost everytime they have been called upon.
Should we be getting an upgrade on Elneny and Gabriel, there wouldn’t be any problem but it will not be wise if we let them leave because we want to clear our wage bill. They could still be crucial to our squad depth this season
