Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has revealed that the club is yet to offer him a new contract despite having less than one year left in his current deal.

The midfielder is one of the influential players in the club and has been a driving force in the team’s superb form this season. He is in his fifth year at the club and has been a regular member of Wenger’s starting xi since he moved to the Emirates.

However, the club is yet to open talk with him over signing a new deal and his situation means he can begin talks with other clubs as from January but he has revealed he wants to stay at the Emirates

“I am happy here. What a player wants is to play and to feel important, he said.

“Fortunately, since I arrived at Arsenal, I’ve had the confidence of the coach [Arsene Wenger] and of my teammates.

“I’ve played a lot of minutes. In the end, that is what every player wants.

“I’m very happy here. The club has treated me very well. I’m in a great club and I’m playing minutes which is what I want.

“If I didn’t play, then I would consider leaving but that is not the case. I have this season left under contract and we will see what the club decides regarding my future.

“I will also decide what is best for me.”

Cazorla’s performances this season has shown that he is still one of the best players in the squad. The club needs to keep its best players and Cazorla is one of them, hence it’s a no-brainer to keep him waiting for a contract.

Arsenal have made tying Ozil and Sanchez down to new contracts it’s priority and we hope once these two are done, Cazorla will be next in line for a new contract.

Cazorla has played 175 games for Arsenal since he joined the club in 2012.
