Jack Wilshere has thrown his Arsenal future into doubt after claiming he is unsure if he will return to the Emirates at the end of his loan spell at Bournemouth.

The midfielder joined Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth on a season long loan in the final days of the summer transfer window and it appears he is already enjoying his time at the Dean Court.

The midfielder is a regular starter for Bournemouth and is now enjoying playing regular football for the first time in two years due to injuries he suffered in the last couple of seasons. He has now revealed he will consider a permanent switch away from the Emirates next summer if he isn’t a guaranteed a regular place in Arsenal’s starting xi next season.

The midfielder who is a Gooner has revealed playing week in week out surpasses his desire to stay at his boyhood club and will seek for a permanent move away if he isn’t given assurances he will play regularly.

“It’s difficult for me to say because I love Arsenal and I’ve had great times there, and they’ve been great for me, and I can still see myself playing there. But who knows what the future holds? I’ve got a year left when I go back there,” Wilshere said, as quoted on Sky Sports.

“At the moment I’m just trying to have a season where it puts me in a good position at the end of the year, I’m improved as a player and Arsenal want me back, and we’ll see where we go from there.

“I always thought to myself ‘of course I love Arsenal’ but if there comes a time where I have to leave, then I have to leave, you know? If I go back and I’m not going to be playing, then, of course, I have to think about things,” the England international explained.

“But at the moment I’m concentrating on Bournemouth. I want to put myself in a position where I go back next year and I’m a better player, and I’m fitter, and I can prove to people I can play week in, week out, and I’m ready for the challenge.”

The midfielder’s comments wouldn’t go down well with those at Arsenal as the loan spell was intended to help him improve on his fitness and return to the club a better player at the end of the season.

His decision to put his Arsenal future on his chances of playing regular football will definitely worry many Gooners who knows his chance of playing regularly at Arsenal is slim. We have numerous quality options in midfield and it’s going to be difficult to assure him he would be ahead of others.

Wilshere will have just one year left in his contract when he returns at the end of the season and Wenger will have a big decision to make if he wants to keep the midfielder.
