Atletico Madrid could make a move for Lucas Perez in the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Perez joined Arsenal from La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna for £17m last August but he is being linked with a move back to Spain after failing to break into the Gunners starting xi.
The Spaniard is firmly behind Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck is Wenger’s pecking order and his chances of getting a regular run in the starting xi is very slim.
Reports are claiming the striker could consider leaving the Emirates in the summer transfer window to a club where he can play regularly. He wants to be part of his country’s 2018 world cup squad and he knows the only way of achieving that is to be playing regularly for his club.
The striker who has scored seven goals and provided five assists despite his limited game time is said to have a lot of suitors lining up to sign him.
And, according to AS via Gunnersphere.com, Atletico Madrid are one of the clubs interested in the Gunners man.
However, a move to Atletico will depend on whether they are able to overturn the transfer ban placed on them by FIFA.
Sevilla were also linked with the striker last week and for now I think they are in a better position to sign Perez.
Arsenal have reportedly made signing a world class striker it’s priority this summer which will push Perez further down the pecking order. It will become impossible for Arsenal to keep him as a player of his quality doesn’t deserve to be rooted to the bench.
