Shocking reports from Spain have emerged that Arsenal are planning to sell one of their most in-form stars of the just concluded season.
According to Marca, Atletico Madrid will swoop in for Arsenal star Nacho Monreal this summer if they fail to re-sign Chelsea’s Filipe Luis.
The report also claims the Gunners have a clause for extension of Monreal’s contract until 2017, but has decided to cash in on the Spaniard
Monreal was signed from Malaga on the eve of transfer deadline day in the winter of 2013 for £8.3 million.
The 29-year-old in his first full season at Arsenal had to play second fiddle to an in-form Kieran Gibbs.
But due to injuries to the England international and the general Arsenal defence, Monreal became a regular in the first team for the Gunners in the first half of the just concluded season where he played more in centre defence before finally ousting Gibbs at left back.
Marca says Atletico have money to spend and have offered a bid of around €8million for Monreal’s services, with Arsenal determined to sell.
Arsenal fans, should Wenger cash in on Monreal this summer?
