Arsenal will be taking part in the Europa League next season after finishing 6th in the Barclays Premier League under Wenger.
One of Unai Emery’s chief objectives is to bring Champions League football back to Emirates. For that, the Spanish boss must sign top quality players and retain the key first team stars as well.
The good news for Arsenal supporters is that the club have agreed a new long term deal (Arsenal FC) with Swiss international Granit Xhaka.
Praising his compatriot, new Arsenal signing Stephan Lichtsteinger stated (Arsenal FC):
“I’ve known Granit now for more than six or seven years, so he’s just an amazing player,”
Xhaka joined the Gunners back in 2016 from German club Borussia Monchengladback and since then, he has been a regular starter.
In the last campaign, the 25-year-old deep-lying playmaker featured in 48 games in all competitions for the north Londoners and directly contributed in 11 goals (3 goals and 8 assists).
The former Basel player made his debut for the senior national side back in 2011 and so far, he has netted 9 goals in 62 appearances for Switzerland. We can expect him to start against Brazil in the World Cup tomorrow night.
