Arsenal have emerged as favorites to sign Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, according to reports.
The striker was linked with a switch to the Emirates in the summer transfer window but a move didn’t look like happening.
The striker has now found himself on Liverpool’s bench this season and it is believed he could seek for a move away from the club in the winter transfer window if his situation doesn’t change.
According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have emerged as favorites to sign the striker.
Bookmakers Sky Bet have placed the striker at 9/1 to become a Gunner before the end of the winter transfer window.
North London rivals Tottenham follow us closely at 12/1 to sign the striker while his former club Chelsea are placed at 14/1.
However, the striker is likely to stay at Anfield until next summer and is placed at 1/8 to remain there beyond the January transfer window.
The links to Arsenal in the summer transfer window was understandable because we were actively pursuing a striker at the time. However, we completed the signing of Lucas Perez for around £17m in the final days of the transfer window.
Wenger has also converted Alexis Sanchez to a centre forward and the Chilean has impressed in the position so far.
The arrival of Perez, performance of Sanchez and the expected arrival of Danny Welbeck from injury in January means the club will have more than enough options in the centre forward position, thereby making a move to sign Sturridge unlikely.
