Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will spend the 2016/2017 season at AS Roma.
The goalkeeper spent last season on loan at the Italian club and established himself as a key member of the squad.
Roma has been working all summer on a deal to extend the goalkeeper’s stay at the club.
They opened talks on signing the 26 year old permanently but were put off by Arsenal’s demands. However, they have now found a breakthrough.
According to Sky Sports, sources in Italy claim Roma have agreed a deal with Arsenal to take the goalkeeper on loan with the option of a permanent transfer. The Italian club would have to sign the goalkeeper for a £13.4m fee at the expiration of the loan deal.
This will be to the delight of Roma boss Spalletti who has never hidden his admiration for the goalkeeper.
Szczesny on his own has always expressed his desire to return to the Italian Capital and the breakthrough in negotiations will definitely excite the duo.
The Goalkeeper made 34 league appearances for the club last season and helped them finish 3rd on the Serie A table behind Napoli and Juventus.
Wenger currently has Petr Cech and David Ospina as his goalkeeping options ahead of next season.
