Tottenham have joined the race to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports. Morata who is currently struggling to replicate his superb form of last season for Juventus is now a target of Premier League clubs.
The Gunners are reportedly in talks to sign the striker with Morata interested in listening to the Gunners as he seeks regular first team football.
According to Spanish Publication Don Balon via the Daily Star, Tottenham have joined the race to sign the striker while Manchester City are also keeping an eye on his situation.
Morata moved to Turin in 2014 for a fee of £16m and he is now being linked with a move back to Real Madrid. It is believed that the Spanish giants inserted a release clause in his deal that saw him join Juventus which would have enabled them sign him for £22m last summer and £26m this summer but the 23 year old is mulling over a move back to the Bernabeu is he is not prepared to sit on the bench.
According to the same report, Tottenham and Arsenal could find it difficult to sign the player this summer as Real Madrid reportedly included a penalty clause in the player’s contract which will cause Juve to pay the sum of £63m to Real Madrid should they sell the player before July 2017.
However, it is baffling to us here how a club can control the sale of a player out-rightly bought. This is the first time we are hearing of such penalty clause.
However, we expect things regarding Morata to get exciting when the transfer window officially opens in July.
