Olivier Giroud is set to hold talks with Arsene Wenger to discuss his future.
The French striker is being linked with a move away from the Emirates, with reports claiming he is only waiting to see Arsenal’s move in the transfer market.
The Gunners are in the market for a new centre forward and report claims Giroud could demand to leave the Emirates if a new face arrives in his position.
However, Arsenal do not want to sell Giroud, regardless of whether a new striker comes in or not and according to The Daily Cannon, the striker will seek clarification on his future in a meeting with Wenger when he returns for preseason on July 3rd.
The striker wants to play regularly next season, in order to stand a good chance of making the France World Cup squad and he doesn’t want another frustrating season on the bench like last one.
Giroud lost his place in the starting xi to Alexis Sanchez last season and the arrival of a new centre forward will only complicate his situation.
It remains to be seen if he wants to fight for a place in the starting xi next season again after spending a couple of years as the club’s preferred option upfront.
Wenger who is desperate to keep the French man is expected to make promises of increased game time this season and hopefully that will be enough to convince him to stay.
