Alexis Sanchez is prepared to force through a move to Manchester City, according to reports.

Sanchez who has one year left in his contract is strongly linked with a move to Manchester City despite public warnings that he isn’t for sale.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain both showed interests in the Chilean but reportedly backed out of a move because of the player’s wage demand.

According to the Independent via the Daily Express, Sanchez is determined to join Manchester City this summer as he eyes a reunion with Pep Guardiola.

It is claimed that the Chilean is even willing to accept less than £300,000 per week to join City. This will be surprising to some Gooners as it was around this figure Sanchez demanded from Arsenal last season when the club tried to offer him an extension.

His willingness to accept less at City shows his desperation to join a rival but Wenger won’t be having any of that and is determined to hold on to him even if it means losing him for nothing next year.

Wenger believes the club is in a strong position financially to cope with losing Sanchez for nothing next year.

“Has he asked to leave? No,” Wenger said.

“My mind has been made up for a while now. I think I’ve made it clear a few times that he is not for sale and this is my stance.

“There’s always something that comes in. If it’s not Sanchez then it’s me, but I think Sanchez has got one year to go and we have no need to make money.”

There is no doubt we’ll be able to cope with losing Sanchez financially but the question is if we will be able to replace him when he eventually leaves.

The state of the current transfer window means we will have to spend exorbitantly to sign a replacement, so what will happen if he joins a rival for nothing next year. Wouldn’t it be wise to get as much as we can this summer and invest it on a replacement?
