Arsenal are interested in signing Benfica youngster Andrija Zivkovic, according to reports.
Zivkovic joined Benfica last summer but initially struggled to make an impact in the Portuguese team, making just a substitute appearance in Benfica’s first 15 league matches. However, his fortunes have turned quickly since the winter break and is gradually becoming a key player for the Portuguese side.
According to Portuguese newspaper record via the gunnersphere.com, his recent form is gradually attracting the attention of top European clubs.
The report claims Arsenal had a representative to watch Zivkovic in Benfica’s game against Arouca last Friday.
The winger has featured in all of Porto’s league games since Christmas, chipping in with three assists and has now provided a total of eight assists which is a big improvement on his early season fortunes.
Arsenal’s scouts have been spotted in Benfica’s games on several occasions this season but first it was claimed we were monitoring Goncalo Guedes who completed a move to PSG in the winter transfer window and Zivkovic is now being touted as our target.
Judging by our reported interest in Guedes which wasn’t true, I don’t think we are interested in Zivkovic, its more likely our scouts were just carrying out their normal duties and not necessarily watching any player in particular.
